THE NORTH PACIFIC
Land of fascinating contrasts

Bordering the north-western sector of Costa Rica’s Pacific Coast, the province of Guanacaste is a gateway to nature and beach adventures. Its rich topography offers a wide variety of places to visit, from stunning sand beaches, amazing volcanoes and savannas, to tropical dry forests. It is the land of cattle ranches, marimbas, dark-skinned sabaneros (local cowboys) and holds Costa Rica’s most authentic folkloric traditions. Within the limits of the country’s north pacific region, you will be able to find all kinds of motivational activities and is a key incentive destination.

The Liberia International Airport is located in this major city of the province and provides a convenient way to discover these wonders.

In Guanacaste, the sun rules the landscape. From November to April, there is almost no rainfall and the sun is very strong. Cool winds from northern latitudes lower temperatures pleasantly along the coast from December to February. From May through October the warm and sunny weather remains but accompanied by occasional showers, usually in the afternoon. The dry season, however, lingers slightly longer than other places in Costa Rica.

Suggested activities in the North Pacific area:

CANOPY TOUR
Glide from platform to platform on the special system of steel cables with the use of professional climbing gear. The Canopy Adventure is located in a tropical dry forest area, home to an abundant population of birds and wildlife. You will be accompanied by specialized guides who introduce the various elements of the tour to make it a truly outstanding and thrilling experience. This activity is highly recommended for your motivation strategy but should only be undertaken by participants who are in relatively good shape.

LIBERIA CITY TOUR & SOUVENIR SHOPPING
Liberia is known popularly as the “Ciudad Blanca” (white city) due to its whitewashed houses, many of which still have their “puerta del sol” corner doors that were ingeniously used to let the sun in the morning and out in the late afternoon. This provided heating and cooling the inside the house throughout the entire day - an architectural feature left over from the colonial era and unique to this region. On the way back from the city our incentives tour will stop at different shops for Costa Rican gifts and souvenirs.

SAILING & SNORKELING
Experience a half-day of sailing along the beautiful north Pacific coast. While sailing we can encounter dolphins, turtles, manta rays and bat rays. Anchored in a secluded bay you can snorkel coral or rock formations, swim, explore tropical jungles and mangroves or simply enjoy the beautiful beach. Drinks and lights snacks are served on board.

OCEAN PADDLING & SNORKELING
The Hawaiian-style outriggers provided on this tour comfortably hold 8 paddlers plus the specialized guide who will be accompanying you. Participants glide easily past cliffs filled with frigate birds and pelicans, landing on a secluded beach; there is time for relaxation, tidal pool exploration, hermit crab races, etc, before paddling back to the put-in location. Fresh fruits and water are offered during the trip.

SURF LESSONS IN TAMARINDO BEACH
On this excursion, ideal for beginners, learn how to surf with the experts at beautiful Tamarindo Beach. The beach stretches over a series of rocky headlands, and the waters give way to a memorable surf ride. Aside from the great waves, Tamarindo also boasts a good selection of restaurants, souvenir shops, and a varied and lively beach culture. After the lessons there is time to walk around the town.

HORSEBACK RIDING IN A WORKING HACIENDA
Explore the beauty of the Guanacaste countryside at Hacienda Aromal - one of the oldest farms in Guanacaste. The Rivas family has owned Hacienda Aromal for more than three centuries. The farm is situated between two national parks, making the property a biological corridor for many species of wildlife, including butterflies, iguanas, birds, and three species of monkeys. The Rivas brothers, the ranch owners and your hosts for this horseback riding experience, welcome you to a ride that begins with cattle herding through the pasturelands and to the trails in the tropical dry forest.

The incentives excursion continues with a horseback ride to the natural hot springs and spa on the property, with bubbling pots of grey mud with medicinal and cosmetic properties. However, if you are looking for a more relaxing incentive program, the Canopy Tour may be substituted by a walk on suspension bridges while travel to the hot springs area can be made on a comfortable cart pulled by a tractor.
